Small and Medium Projects

The backbone to the hirefleet is the provision of steel site accommodation and storage containers which are available in a range of types including offices, canteens, drying rooms, security cabins and toilets or a combination of these. Lengths vary from just 12ft (3.6m) through to 40ft (12 metres).

These units can be stacked in a number of ways using external steel staircases or staircases with double exit landings which provide quick access between adjacent top stacked units. Steel cabins are available for both hire and sale.

Large construction sites can have tens or hundreds of people working and managing projects, whilst it’s still feasible to use steel cabins from the steel cabin range we offer two alternative options:

ECOlink

The high specification flat sided ECOlink range of steel cabins provides the capability of units being linked together to create larger project offices, meeting rooms, or canteen areas (with or without kitchen and cafe facilities).

ECOlink units include upgraded features including PIR sensors, concussive taps, uPVC tilt and turn double glazed windows and a choice of heating and cooling options, It’s especially worthwhile for longer term projects as they not only create a more comfortable working environment but save energy too.

Modular

For larger or long term projects we offer two main types of modular building, the robust steel modular and the flexible euro modular. Modular buildings provide you with options to plan the layout of interiors and are often used where there is a need to interact with the public either as part of consultation, public relations or the sales process when they can be laid out as a marketing suite.

Restricted Access Sites

Sometimes access is restricted because of weak or low bridges, weight limits, or just a lack of space to locate your temporary accommodation or storage facilities.

We offer a number of products to help, including flat pack offices and storage containers that can be erected on site, wheeled towable units or accommodation such as the single mains toilet that can be moved into position with a forklift truck. For sites with no power supply the static or mobile welfare range equipped with their own generators provides yet another option.

Jackleg Cabins & Modular

Modular buildings and jackleg cabins are ideal for military bases as the off-site construction significantly reduces disruption, especially for sensitive sites. Fully-fitted modules are delivered almost complete which also simplifies security issues.

We can offer increased specifications to meet local military rules and if defence strategy changes, the units can be relocated as required.

Storage

Shipping Containers & Bunded Storage

Storing equipment and materials is a necessary part of running any defence base. Containerised storage can meet a myriad of uses whether it’s for the Army, Navy, RAF or special forces, with the added advantage that it can be easily relocated if plans change.

Liquids and materials potentially damaging to the environment such as weed killers, cleaning products, fuels or oils can be stored safely in our bunded containers.

With the need to deploy, often at short notice, shipping containers are regularly used by militaries around the world to move large volumes of materials and equipment. These containers can be plated for shipping for a number of years through either military or worldwide container networks.

If equipment is being shipped off-grid to extremely remote locations, the last-way shipper is often used. These are containers that are close to the end of their useful life for shipping purposes and are not expected to return to the worldwide shipping network after delivery. We provide both used, last way and new one-trip containers from stock.

Housing Associations & Student Accommodation

Housing Associations often provide the first step on the ladder for many people to move into rented accommodation and with chronic shortages of housing in many areas we believe that shipping containers could help.

There have been a number of recent examples around the UK where planning has been granted for ‘Meanwhile’ use. This is usually a temporary permission that enables a prime area of land to be used before it is needed for something else and often this goes hand in hand with economic regeneration of areas to create new and vibrant communities.

The benefit of using container-based homes in these situations is that once the area is ready for total redevelopment they can be moved on to help new areas in the same way.

Converted shipping containers are ideal for individual living and provide a perfect base for single person or bunk accommodation such as at activity centres or for student accommodation.

Architectural Significant Projects

Whilst we do not believe that shipping containers will replace other building techniques, they are ideally suited to creating iconic structures and designs for homes of architectural significance. However they are not a more economical alternative to traditional construction as there are significant structural challenges in order to meet building and energy regulations.

The design of flat pack cabins means that multiple units can be shipped inside a single shipping container and quickly and easily erected on site, by an experienced supervisor and local labour.

Modified Shipping Containers

The other option is using converted shipping containers, suitable for particularly challenging environments where locally-erected units are not sufficiently robust or there is a shortage of local labour.

They are also ideal for any unit that requires a higher level of interior fit out, such as toilet blocks where all plumbing works can be completed using skilled factory labour rather than relying on the local workforce.
