Limited access drives decision for flat pack storage

The need for a secure storage container for motor parts, to be located in a space with very tight access, led Drive Vauxhall in Bury St Edmunds to explore Portable Space’s Flat Pack range.

Neil Cooper, Financial Controller at Drive Vauxhall says: “We were keen to replace our existing storage facility with something that could be locked securely but the shape of our site meant that conventional shipping containers were out of the question as they wouldn’t fit through the tight access.

“After searching on the internet, we identified Portable Space and its Flat Pack solution which looked ideal. One of my colleagues then went along to the company’s headquarters where a member of the team met him and showed him the containers which he could see would suit our requirements perfectly.

“We ordered two Flat Pack containers – a 4 metre and a 3 metre – which could be configured in an ‘L’ shape to accommodate all the parts we needed. Sam Curtis at Portable Space was very helpful in terms of answering our questions and organising the team to deliver the units and install them for us. Once in situ, we were able to put up shelving systems to suit the items to be stored.

“This storage solution is working well for us and dealing with Portable Space was a very positive experience.”

Drive Vauxhall is a national group with 13 sites across the UK including Bury St Edmunds where it employs 64 staff. The site in Cotton Lane covers new and used car and van sales, motability, servicing and repairs, parts and accessories and an accident repair centre.
