Modular System Is Ideal Housing For Welfare Facilities

Business & Industry

A global provider of security detection and automation systems needed a modular building to house welfare facilities for its production team, incorporating a canteen, male and female toilets, and a changing room with lockers and showers.

L3 Harris is part of the Leidos Group and was relocating to a newly-built manufacturing outlet in Bedford where the additional facilities would be required and would be sited inside a warehouse.

The Portable Space team set to work to design a modular building which would house the different areas, using four 20 ft units.

Danny Napier, Senior Modular Projects Manager said: “Two representatives from L3 Harris contacted us to enquire about modular accommodation needed for its new outlet and after producing designs and costings, we were awarded the contract.

“Everything went to plan and the whole process was a positive experience, largely because our contacts Hash and Daniel were such a pleasure to deal with. The timeline of the project meant we were able to install the units ahead of the lockdown even though we had to wait until we were allowed to return to site once restrictions were lifted to finish everything off.”

Hash Vadolia from L3 Harris added: “I’d like to thank Portable Space for the excellent modular product, made to our required specification and delivered on time. Particular thanks to Danny Napier and his team for providing a top notch service and completing the project even with the challenges of the COVID-19 lockdown”.
